FWP Receives a Gold Award in the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme(ERS)

The ERS Gold Awards is the highest badge of honour for organisations which have signed the Armed Forces Covenant and demonstrated outstanding support for those who serve and have served. It recognises employers who actively support the Armed Forces community in their workplace and also encourage others to follow their lead.

The charity triggered and supported the LGBT Veterans’ Independent Review, led by The Rt Hon. Lord Terence Etherton GBE, KC, PC and his Final Report, published in July 2023, included 49 recommendations for reparations that the Government accepted in full in December 2023. Most of the reparations are now available for those impacted by the ban, however, FWP has continued to lead the campaign for financial reparations which have yet to be announced.

FWPs signed the Armed Forces Covenant in March 2023, rapidly activating Silver ERS in July 2023. Receiving Gold just one year later is a unique achievement and an outstanding demonstration of the FWP team’s commitment.

Ed Hall, FWP Chair said:

I’m proud that the UK’s LGBT+ military Charity has been recognised so highly for its excellent work within the Employer Recognition Scheme. The charity formed in 2020 to support LGBT+ Veterans, serving personnel and families, and as we approach the final stages of negotiating reparations for the veterans community, this award precisely illustrates our wider mission to support and raise an inclusive welcome for all members of the LGBTQ+ defence community and their families..”

Caroline Paige MBE, CEO FWP said:

“Fighting With Pride is delighted to have received the Gold Award of the Employer Recognition Scheme. It demonstrates our team’s commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant in its support of all members of the defence community and their families. We are proud to have reached this golden standard in such a short period of time. It endorses our pledge to inspire inclusion in other organisations and help them to recognise and support the diversityof the defence community. Through FWPs work they get to appreciate the tremendous value that LGBT+ serving personnel, reservists, veterans and military families bring to communities, employers and the nation.

FWP would not have reached the Gold standard as quickly or as efficiently as it did without the tremendous work and drive of Anthony Knight MBE KJ, FWP’s VCW for South East England region.”
